Alola is a not for profit non-governmental organisation operating in Timor-Leste to improve the lives of women and children. Founded in 2001 by the then First Lady, Ms Kirsty Sword Gusmao, the organisation seeks to nurture women leaders and advocate for the rights of women.

The Alola Shop, located beside the Alola office in Mascarenhas and at Timor Plaza, stocks quality handicrafts produced by weavers from all around Timor-Leste.
The Alola Shop is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alola Foundation, with all profits going to support Alola's programs.
Changes at the top!
After 3 years in the job, Alola's CEO, Teresa Verdial, is leaving Alola to take up a graduate scholarship at the University of South Australia. Alola will farewell Alita at the end of May, and wishes her all success in her new endeavours. Alita has contributed an enormous amount to Alola over the past ten years. The Alola Foundation is an East Timorese Organisation run, by, with and for East Timorese people.
