Pakote Pensu – Washable and Useable sanitary napkins

Alola Foundation has undertaken a second phase of Pakote Pensu providing 6 washable and useable pads, 6 pairs of underwear, 6 packets of washing powder and a bucket to women living in IDP camps who are of reproductive age. This aim of this project - pakote pensu – is to reduce the environmental impact of sanitary problems in the  IDP camps.

Pakote Pensu project was funded by Alola Foundation through its emergency fund for the crisis. This project responded to the demand from women living in IDP camps around Dili. This project continued until February 2007 and distributed more then 3000 pakote pensu to women in IDP camps both in Dili and Baucau Districts.

Women were really happy to receive this support during the emergency situation because with pakote pensu they could save their money to cover other expenses and reduce the environmental impact from excess rubbish.
