Panel 6: Salendangs

Salendangs are worn like scarves and shawls at modern and traditional meetings. Motifs, patterns and wording woven into the Salendang signify the occasion. They can be ordered from local women with any design, writing or colors. During the Indonesian Occupation the production developed as many soldiers bought them as souvenirs.
