JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT for the position of: GENDER EQUALITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS ADVOCACY PROGRAM COORDINATOR

The Alola Foundation is a non-governmental organization operating in Timor-Leste to improve the lives of women and children. The organization seeks to nurture women leaders and advocate for women’s rights. Our motto is ‘Strong Women, Strong Nation,’ and we manage programs in Maternal & Child Health, Advocacy, Education, and Economic Development. Alola Foundation is governed by a Board of Management and is currently transitioning toward a management team that is entirely Timorese-led.

 

We are currently looking for qualified Timorese nationals to fill the following positions:

GENDER EQUALITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS ADVOCACY (GEHRA) PROGRAM COORDINATOR

 

Role Overview:

This position is responsible for planning and management of the gender equality and human rights advocacy program and coordination of all projects undertaken both national and municipality levels. The coordinator is the primary contact person for the program, providing regular updates and maintaining accountability to the Alola management, staff, donors and partners organizations. The coordinator will develop a strategic plan for the Gender Equality and Human Rights Advocacy  program of Fundasaun Alola.

 

THE POSITION SUMMARY:

  • In consultation with stakeholders both national and municipalities, develop of strategic plan including review the program facilities and resources
  • Develop a program for implementation of the program strategic plan including staffing that is responsible to local women’s group and potential women identified need.
  • Manage the staff, program and project based on the GEHRA program.
  • Develop a marketing strategy for the program to market the GEHRA program to donors, partners and other agencies
  • Prepare funding proposals include budgets, on time and to the standards required to the standard by the donor.
  • Prepared as required including financial reports
  • Monitor implementation of the strategic plan including financial performance
  • Ensure compliance with Alola’s policies and procedures program staff
  • Maintain and electronic file management system and database of focal and international donors and agencies
  • Represent the Alola Foundation in external coordination meetings, working groups and events by government, local, international NGOs and UN agencies.
  • Facilitate relevant training relevant of gender issues, life skill, prevention and response gender-based violence, leadership, sexual reproductive health, etc.) at national and municipalities.
  • Ensure good understanding of the relevant laws, political and international conventions that Timor-Leste adopted and ratified.
  • Develop training programs and activities in collaborations with Alola’s programs to promote MCH program, Education, Economic and Empowerment program, key messages for promote human rights for women, girls, children and inclusivity.
  • Coordinate and facilitate GEHRA programs, such as meetings, seminars, campaigns and events at national and municipalities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Bachelor of Law Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in gender issues and Human Rights program
  • Experience supporting CSOs and strengthening partner capacity
  • Knowledge of multi-donor reporting requirements
  • Strong teamwork, coordination, and communication skills
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and report writing
  • Ability to work with diverse teams and manage multiple tasks
  • Fluency in Tetum, English and understanding on Portuguese and Bahasa Indonesia Language.
  • Strong commitment to child rights, gender equality, and human rights
  • High integrity, accountability, and professionalism
