Funds help to (1) provide a Timorese woman with the skills and seed funding she requires to start a small-scale enterprise (2) Provide tools, materials and support that enable women to earn a living in the textile trade, primarily sewing or weaving. Not only does this help women support their families, it also gives something equally important – hope.
For $AU100, Your gift will help give a Timorese student in Manufahi the opportunity to be involved in an intensive literacy pilot program. HALIMAR which means Strengthening Literacy for Teachers and Students, will utilise the best practice approach identified by the Minister of Education and will focus on training teachers and providing adequate resources to students. Funds will be used to: (1) Establish this program and run evaluation exercises to track success. (2) Provide physical resources including colour pencils, printed materials, books and reading shelves.
