The “Alola Foundation” is a non government organization, operating in Timor Leste to improve the lives of women and children.  The organization seeks to nurture women leaders and advocate for the rights of women, our motto is “Strong Women, Strong Nation” and we have programs in Maternal & Child Health, Advocacy, Education and Economic Development. Alola Foundation is led by a Board of Management and currently moving towards a management team that is entirely Timorese led.

 

Currently we are looking for Timorese qualified persons to fill the following positions as;

 

EDUCATION LIAISON COORDINATOR FOR ALMA PROJECT, EDUCATION PROGRAM, FUNDASAUN ALOLA,

to Improve quality and access to education.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Education Liaison Coordinator will work closely with PHD Education team in coordinating and facilitating the leadership training via face to face or online through JITSI application to school leaders and ToT to local mentors and INFORDEPE national trainers, include but not limited to:

  • Support the implementation of ALMA institutionalization plan at national and municipal level
  • Coordinating and supporting the PHD Education program team (pre-service and in-service teacher training development team) to:
    • Ensure ALMA Leadership Training to all school leaders are delivered.
    • Provide ToT training to INFORDEPE national trainers and local mentors
    • Provide logistic and administrative support for effective and smooth implementation of ALMA training at national and municipal level.
    • Ensure teacher and leaders continuous capacity development through Grupo Trabalho do Profesor (GTP) and Grupo Trabalho do Lider (GTL).
  • Coordinating and supporting the PHD education program team (Instructional Leadership team) to:
    • Support local mentors to provide school-based mentoring activities by providing advice, capacity building, and problem-solving techniques.
    • Support local mentors to provide mentoring, capacity development and other pedagogical support to school leaders and teachers.
    • Ensure Grupo Trabalho do Profesor (GTP) and Grupo Trabalho do Lider (GTL) in cluster and school are conducted accordingly.
    • Ensure tablet management and maintenance
  • Coordinate and organize regular monthly meeting between PHD-education team and ALOLA education team including taking minutes of the meeting, ect.
  • Providing technical inputs at any level and on any required information regarding ALMA activities.
  • Support ALOLA education manager to:
    • Collect ALMA local mentor’s timesheet for allowance and prepare summary of payment list.
    • Tracking data of Mentor log (Local Mentor report) to attached with timesheet allowance
    • Cross check timesheet allowance of ALMA Local mentor from Phase 1-4 and 6 before submitted to ALOLA Education Manager.
    • Prepare monthly report on ALMA activities
    • Any other duties require by Managers and CEO.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • A degree in education or another related field
  • Considerable relevant professional experience in education sector
  • Demonstrated experience and technical skill in planning, managing, coordinating and liaising activities or initiative and associated documentation and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in challenging work environment with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability and willingness to travel to remote areas in the municipalities within Timor-Leste

Strong Women Strong Nation – Feto forte Nasaun Forte – Mulheres Forte Nação Fórte

The Education Program is designed to significantly enhance access to and the quality of education in Timor-Leste. It provides robust support to teachers, students, children, and communities, enabling them to acquire the skills and knowledge required to reach their goals. These projects are executed in close collaboration with key partners such as the Ministry of Education, the National Institute for Training of Teachers and Education Professionals (INFORDEPE), and various other educational organizations and institutions.

 

In the 2023 fiscal year, Fundasaun Alola effectively executed four education projects: Scholarships, Teacher Training, Mobile Libraries, and Community-Based Preschools. This report provides a comprehensive overview of these projects and underscores their significant impact on the organization and the broader community.
